Drawing and painting have always been an integral part of my life. Over the years I have found that I am truly a mood painter and when I get started it is hard to stop. I have always been fascinated by nature’s wonders and inspired by the beauty that surrounds me. Painting is my passion and very personal to me, and I suppose as many artists do, I lose myself in the piece when I start to paint.
Others have described my work as ethereal, sensitive, soothing, and personal. The sensitive nature of my work and the ‘dreamy’ quality extends to the viewer a sense of peace and tranquility, perhaps a way of bringing the natural beauty that is all around us closer to the viewer, closer to the heart. I feel that a painting is not finished unless it has the capacity to stir feelings in the viewer, to make them feel captivated by those feelings, to enliven them.
Since I started painting I have completed close to 1400 originals. My style has changed over the years but the ethereal quality is always there. Capturing the freedom of nature, the softness of a waterfall, the spirit of trees, is what stirs my soul. It is that which I wish to convey to others, bringing a bit of beauty and peacefulness into the lives of those who wish to partake. I hope for a personal connection between the painting and the individual, that they will relate as strongly as I to the subject and the feelings that took place when it was created.
I hold a BA degree in Fine Arts from Sonoma State University and owned my own gallery from 2001 until 2003 in Occidental, California. I have shown in many galleries up and down the western coast of the United States and in Denver, Colorado, and presently show my work at The Upstairs Gallery in Healdsburg and Towers Gallery in Cloverdale. I have also shown my work in multiple art shows in California, Oregon, Washington, and Canada, since 1973.
